Christopher F. Gingerich, 83, of State Route 206, Walhonding, OH, passed away at home on Friday, March 10, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1940 in Jay County, Indiana to Fred E. and Katherine (Kauffman) Gingerich and married Malinda Miller on Feb. 10, 1966. He had made his home near Walhonding for the past 26 years having previously resided in Fredericksburg and Berlin. He loved being a farmer and had also worked as a painter and was a member of River of Life Christian Fellowship in Shreve.
Surviving are his wife, Malinda "Linda" of 57 years; children and their spouses, Emma Keen of New Castle, OH, Frederick and Miriam Gingerich of Stover, MO, Edward and Nettie Gingerich of Smithland, KY, Daniel and Mary Gingerich, Toby and Wilma Gingerich and Katie and Tim Miller all of Walhonding, David and Jana Gingerich of Farmland, IN, Chester and Michelle Gingerich of Muncie, IN, Jason Gingerich of Walhonding and James Gingerich of Warsaw; son-in-law, David Miller of Walhonding, daughter-in-law, Ashley Gingerich of Kentucky; 53 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eli and Katie Gingerich of Hazelton, IA and Chester and PhoebeGingerich of Minnesota and a sister, Lizzie and William Plank of Auburn, NE.
Services will be on Monday, March 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Berlin Mennonite Church, 4718 U.S. 62, Berlin, OH with David Hostetler and Jim Sommers officiating.Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery, Prairie Township, Holmes County. Friends may call on Saturday from 4-8 p.m and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the church.
