Charles Leo Whitworth Jr.

Charles Leo Whitworth, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at his home at Danbury of Millersburg.

Leo was born on April 9, 1939, in Cleveland to Charles Leo and Dolores Garnett (Walker) Whitworth and was a graduate of Jeromesville High School. While in high school, he played the saxophone and was a first-place winner at a State Music Competition. Leo married Sandra Jane Long on Dec. 22, 1957, and they shared nearly 68 years together. Leo retired as a Plant Supervisor from Borg Warner/Rexroth in Wooster after 42 years of service and had operated Apple Creek Marina at his home near Fredericksburg. He was a member of Fredericksburg American Legion Post 651 and had enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to the annual dear camp.

Surviving is his wife, Sandy; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Leo III and Shelley Whitworth of Wooster, Bruce and Patty Whitworth of Warsaw, Douglas Whitworth of Lakeville, Patrick and Missie Whitworth of Wooster and Shawn and Melissa Whitworth of Glenmont; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Liam Whitworth.

A family celebration was held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff at Danbury of Millersburg and CorsoCare Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Leo.
