Charles William Wellman, 80, of Creston, died peacefully at his home in Creston on Monday, June 18, 2018 after a brief illness.
Charlie was born Dec. 18, 1937 in Wooster to the late Latt and Effie (Hooser) Wellman. He married the love of his life, Nora Collins on Dec. 24, 1955 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 2005. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Miller Brothers Construction having previously worked for Walter Jones Construction. Charlie loved to work on cars which he did as a side business for many years and he was a tinkerer. He was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers for nearly 60 years.
He was a wonderful Dad and Pa pa and is survived by his children, Butch (Joyce) Wellman, Jim Wellman and Tina (Terry) Walters; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a soon to be great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora; brother, Clarence, an infant brother, James. a sister, Mary Pierce and a cousin who was life a brother, Larry Wellman.
Services will be Friday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Burbank Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
