Carolyn Joann Austin

Carolyn Joann (Rogers) Austin, 81, of Creston, went to be with her heavenly Savior, on Saturday, October 31, 2020. She died peacefully at home.

Joann was born June 22, 1939 in Grafton, WV and was the daughter of the late Jerred Paul and Dessie (Isner) Rogers. Joann was a member of Creston Presbyterian Church and was a prior member of Sterling Grace Brethren Church and Grafton Grace Brethren Church. Growing up, she enjoyed her family and her churches where she had served over the years as a Deaconess, was involved in Ladies Bible Studies, helped with Vacation Bible School, Children's Church and Nursery care.  She did visitations and provided meals for elderly and was always helping where ever needed.  She enjoyed volunteering at Mountain Vision and Creston Salvation Army, enjoyed being a part of the ladies bowling league, Girl Scout helper and a Softball Mom.  Joann like to spend her free time reading, crocheting, quilting, crafting and cooking.

Joann leaves behind her husband, James, of almost 53 years of marriage who she married on Nov. 4, 1967; daughters, Jennifer Austin-Marty, Jeanette Austin, and Joyce Smith; grandchildren, Andrew (Christina) Marty, Beth Marty, Nichole (Cody) Chinn, Ashley (Bill) Dale, Larry Davenport III (girlfriend Julie Pask), Caleb (fiancee Courtney Fuller) Smith, Tyler Smith. Great grandchildren, Bentley Chinn, Landon Davisson, Kingston Chinn and William "Wade" Dale. Sister-in-law Ruby (Nine) Cline, Brother-in-laws, William (Suzy) Austin and Ivan (Delores) Austin and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Paul and Dessie Roger, brothers and sisters, Fred (Betty) Rogers, William (Jean) Rogers, Doris (Bob) Biggins, Richard (Izabella) Rogers and Kenneth Rogers.

Services for Joann will be, Monday, Nov. 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home, in Creston with Pastor Mike Van Arsdale officiating.  Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 8th from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
