Carol Ruth Gradwohl, 84, of Wadsworth passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, peacefully at her home.
Carol was born on December 20, 1941, in Akron to the late Reverand Louis E. and Ruth (Cope) Bauman. She graduated from Buchtel High School in 1959 and went to the University of Akron where she got her bachelor’s degree in education. Carol briefly taught in Iowa before moving back to northeast Ohio and starting her family. She married Bruce Gradwohl on August 3, 1968, and together they had enjoyed 57 years together until his passing on January 11, 2026. Carol worked as an independent contractor for the Akron Beacon Journal and had delivered papers for over 40 years. She had attended the Rittman United Methodist Church and most recently the Creston Presbyterian Church where she was involved in the women’s group. Carol loved taking pictures and was very free spirited.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Mark and Julie Gradwohl of Rittman and Tim and Melissa Gradwohl of Doylestown; grandchildren, Michael (Lauren), Andrew, Alex, Keri, Emily, Kaitlyn, Zach, and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Mason and Colton and soon on the way Olivia; and brother, David Lewis Bauman of Sweet Home, Oregon.
Services will be Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Creston Presbyterian Church with Pastor Mike Van Arsdale officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 until time of services. A family graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Creston Presbyterian Church 13070 Cleveland Rd, Creston, OH 44217.
