Carl Edward Vanness

Carl Edward Vanness, 63, of Creston, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at Autumnwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Rittman after a lengthy illness. Carl was born Feb. 1, 1954 in Massillon, OH to the late Paul E. and Alice (Slates) Vanness and had made his home in Creston most of his life. He had worked at McIntire Basket Factory and at Norton Environmental. Carl was a member of the Creston Moose Lodge 1224 and enjoyed walking, spending time with family and watching sports. He was a big Ohio State Fan and Cleveland Indians Fan and will be missed. Surviving are his sisters, Angel (“Butch”) Pine and Connie (Russell) Snyder both of Rittman a niece, Shay Barthels; nephews, Brad Carpenter, Zachary Snyder and Dustin Snyder and aunts, uncles and cousins including his aunt, Martha Holiday and her family of Creston with whom he had resided for many years. His parents died previously. Services will be Monday, Jan. 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Glenn Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. The family extends their sincere thank to the staff of Autumnwood Care Center and Hospice of Summa for the wonderful care given to Carl.
