Calvin Rumburg April 20, 1948 - June 8, 2017

Calvin Rumburg, 69, passed away peacefully June 8, 2017, after his journey with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Cal was born April 20, 1948, to Gertrude (Friedt) and Paul Rumburg in Seville. After graduating from Cloverleaf in 1966 and Bluffton College in 1970, Cal married his high school sweetheart, Carol (Ruprecht), June 19, 1971. Cal worked at Westfield Insurance Companies for 35 years. When he wasn’t at the office, Cal loved farming and working in his well-organized shop. He took pride in keeping cars clean, the lawn mowed and the yard immaculate.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Carol, daughters Jenny (Patrick) Urian and Amy Kilgore, granddaughter Monica, grandsons Chase, Andrew, Alex and Connor, siblings Beverly Plessinger, Vivian O’Neill and Glenn Rumburg, beloved niece Erin O’Neill, and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Cal will be remembered for many reasons - his infectious laugh, abundant kindness, loving eyes, selfless nature, love of all things farming, love of music and strong work ethic. In the words of a beloved friend, “I wish they still made them like Cal. All who knew him are better for having him in their life.” Cal’s last years were filled with love by the devoted caregivers at Brookdale Medina South, who will forever hold a place in the heart of Cal’s family.

The family welcomes family and friends for calling hours Monday, June 19, 4-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston, OH, and a Celebration of Life service Tuesday, June 20, 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Road, Seville, OH. A luncheon will follow at the church.
