Brent Kaye Young

Brent K. Young, 74, of Fredericksburg, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 with his wife by his side.

Brent was born Feb. 14, 1947 in Millersburg to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Woodruff) Young and was a 1965 graduate of West Holmes High School.  He graduated from Valparasio University and later worked in Electronics at McDonnell Douglas during the Vietnam War.  He returned to Millersburg where he worked with his parents, Paul and Elizabeth at Young Music and Sound later becoming the owner and operator.  Brent loved to work and was still working five days a week.  On Sept. 15, 1990 he married the former Phyllis McClelland Markel and they had made their home in Millersburg until moving to Fredericksburg where they enjoyed raising and caring for their farm animals and Brent’s faithful companions, Sparky and Sheba.  Brent was a member of NewPointe Community Church in Millersburg, the Millersburg Car Club and was member of the Walhonding Rube Band and the Orrville Community Band.  With an interest in following real estate sales and transactions, Brent and Phyllis enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis of 31 years; daughters, Jackie (David) Barker of Wooster and Debbi (Stan) Miller of Millersburg; step-children, Paul (Nancy) Markel of Encampment, WY, James Markel of Wooster and Heather (Brent) Strickland of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Barker, Jake, Blaine, Bailee and Reid Hoxworth and Jarrad (Alex), Paxton and Zachary Markel; a great-granddaughter, Ruth Markel; a brother, Brad (Amy) Young of Wooster and nieces and nephews.

Brent was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Brian Young and a son-in-law, Jason Hoxworth.
