Billy Joe Hoosier

Bill Hoosier, 82, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman after a period of declining health.

He was born in Rittman on Jan. 4, 1939 to the late Victor and Launa (Lester) Hoosier and was given the name, Billy Joe.  He graduated from Norwayne High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1961.  He later served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 – 1965 and on Dec. 24, 1963 married the former Yvonne McConnell who survives.  He retired from Wadsworth City School after 26 years of service and later worked at Castle Nursing Homes and Walmart.  Bill was a man of faith who loved reading and studying the Bible.  He also enjoyed working in his yard and around the house.

Surviving is his wife, Yvonne; his son, Gregory Hoosier and sister, Carol Lonier.

Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen on June 30, 2021; his brother, Ronnie and a sister, Elizabeth.
