Beverly Ann Hanzie, 76, of Creston, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Akron General Hospital surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.
Bev was born June 15, 1940 in Medina to the late Clarence and Mary (Pallotta) Obermiller and was a 1958 graduate of Norwayne High School. She attended Oberlin Business College and on Dec. 26, 1959 married Ronald E. Hanzie who preceded her in death on March 10, 2005. In 1960, Ron and Bev established Hanzie Meats in Creston which they operated until 1994 and they took great pride in their work and service to their customers. She was a great supporter of the Norwayne Athletic Programs and the Norwayne Community and she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting and school events over the years. Bev loved to travel with family and friends and is remembered for her card ministry which expressed her support and love for people in times of joy, illness and sorrow. She attended Northside Christian Church and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Bonnie Hanzie, Doug and Kelly Hanzie and Tim and Kim Hanzie all of Creston; her grandchildren who knew her as “Grams”; Tyler Hanzie, Keylee Hanzie-West, Jacob Hanzie, Jed Hanzie, Jay Hanzie, Drew Hanzie, Megan (Jake) Zimmerly, Molly (Trent) Gasser and Abby Hanzie; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Amelia Gasser and Kelcie Zimmerly; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Sandy Obermiller of Wooster; sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Jerry Hanzie of Tucson, AZ, Rosemary Csapo of Creston and Barb and Tom Blough of Creston and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents and a brother-in-law, Frank Csapo.
Family services will be held at Murray Funeral Home with burial in Sterling Crown Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
