Arthur Louis "Art" Opliger

Arthur Louis “Art” Opliger, 79, of Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at Aultman Dunlap Hospital in Orrville after a period of declining health.

Art was born near Fredericksburg on April 10, 1942 to the late Earl and Mabel (Parrot) Opliger and was a 1960 graduate of Waynedale High School.  He married Mary Lou Blaney on Sept. 9, 1963 and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2019.  Art was a lifetime farmer who loved to work and his grandkids and his dog, Sam always brought him great enjoyment.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, Greg and Mary Opliger of Fredericksburg, Jody Pinkstaff and Jerry Milne  of Glennie, MI, Chris and Jan Opliger of Fredericksburg, Tim and Amber Opliger of Smithville and Mike Opliger of the home; son-in-law, Randy Smith of Fredericksburg; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Deanna Smith, a brother, Clyde Opliger; a sister, Anna Mae Baker and a niece.

Services will be Monday, Jan. 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Rev. Jesse McDonald officiating.  Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery.  Friends may call on Sunday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
