Alvin Wayne Books

Alvin Wayne Books, 71, of Wooster passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster while surrounded by family.

Alvin was born on September 13, 1955, in Massillon to George Edward and Martha Jean (Pittman) Books and was a 1974 graduate of Waynedale High School. On August 26, 1979, he married Laberta Douglas and they enjoyed 47 wonderful years together. He had worked as a die setter at Gerstenslager/Artiflex in Wooster for over 34 years until retiring in 2016. Alvin loved going fishing, playing game especially Farkle, and loved to be around his family.

Surviving is his wife, Laberta; sons, Christopher Books, Ryan Books and Nathan Rodgers; daughter Jeanne Hillyer; grandchildren, Braylon, Bryce and Sophia Books, Dakota Madrill, Tiffany Ziegler, and RJ Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Kolton and Kowen Hillyer, Carter and Harper Madrill, and Destiny Ziegler; brother, Loren (Linda) Books; sister, Lisa Crawford; sisters-in-law, Etta Trimpi and Tina (Tom) Simon; many nieces and nephews; his faithful furry companions, Gideon, Koda, Sasha, and Sassy; and favorite granddog Millie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edwards George Books, brother-in-law, Rick Trimpi, and his service dog, Odin.

Per Alvins wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. at 2102 Robinhood Dr. Wooster, OH 44691 with a meal following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Lifecare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
