Alka Mae (Marcum) Hines

Alka Mae Hines, 87, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster after a brief illness.

Alka Mae was born March 12, 1932 in Crum, WV to the late James T. and Bessie (Corns) Marcum.  She had made her home in Creston moving to Mansfield in 1971 and returned to Wooster in 2016.  She had worked as a seamstress and JC Penny in Mansfield and attended Highland Church of God in Wooster.  Alka was very talented having enjoyed painting, making jewelry, quilting and crocheting and she will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Sherman; children, Jeanne (Ron) Houghton of Orrville, Rick (Jan) Hines of Mansfield and Gayle Botdorf of Galion; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers, Albert (Naomi) Marcum of Parma and Lloyd Marcum of Wooster; sisters, Roberta (Starling) Pittman of Creston, Elois Frybarger of Wooster, Janet (Paul) Damron of West Salem and Carole (Russ) Norris of Wooster and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Rinehart, brothers, Charles, Virgil, Harold, Robert, Bernard, Vernon, Lowell and Burgess “Ray” Marcum and sisters, June Herald and Mary Prost.

Services will be Saturday, Feb. 22nd at 3:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Mark McCord officiating.  Burial will be held later at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
