Alice May Hendricks, 86, of Apple Creek, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Dalton after a period of declining health.
Alice was born on July 8, 1938 in Highland Heights, Ohio to the late Stephen Alexander and Iva May (Hanslik) Girard and was a 1957 graduate of Mayfield High School. On Sept. 26, 1959 she married Robert B. Hendricks and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2020. Alice retired from Apple Creek Elementary School having been a Library Aide, Cafeteria Worker and later, an Education Aide in the Special Needs Class. She was an active member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek where she was involved with the prayer chain and helping with meals. She had been a volunteer for the Blood Mobile and was a member of the Apple Creek Historical Society. Alice loved animals, especially her cats, and she enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their activities. She was a wonderful cook and a friend to her many Amish Friends in the Community
Surviving are her children, Daniel Hendricks of Apple Creek, Laurie (Jeff) Hendershot of Groton, MA and Lisa (Paul) Bischoff of Apple Creek; six grandchildren, Aaron, David and Jesse Hendershot, Hallie Bischoff and her husband Jarrod Lepley and Macy and Lexi Bischoff; a sister-in-law, Carol Geiger of Seven Hills, OH and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; brothers, Harold and Donald Girard and an infant sister, Genevieve.
Services will be Thursday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek with Pastor Dale Smith officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 until time of services. Interment will be held at Apple Creek Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, PO Box 205, Apple Creek, OH 44606 or to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Uniontown, OH 44685. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements. The family expresses their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff of Shady Lawn Care Center, InCare Hospice and Crossroads Hospice for all the wonderful care given to her over the past 4 years.
