Albert Henson “Al” Simmons, 90, of Medina, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 with family at his side after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born in Dyer, Tennessee on Jan. 22, 1931 to the late William Gillard and Rosie Elizabeth (Riley) Simmons and growing up he was called “Hence”. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1954 and on Nov. 5, 1955 he married Carolyn Joy Rochelle and she survives. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 41 years of service and was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Chippewa Lake and the Veteran of Foreign Wars in Trenton, TN. Albert enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, mechanical work which he taught his son, and was a fan of NASCAR racing and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; children, Albert Keith (Renee) Simmons, Robert Brian (Ellen) Simmons, Caron Simmons and Terri Lynn (Glenn) Wilson; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends, Janet Zelenka and Darlene Ergh and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen; a granddaughter, Vanessa; brothers, William Herbert “Hub” and Grady Lee and a sister Virginia.
Services will be Thursday, Dec. 30th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Jamie Barrett officiating.
