Albert “Dick” James Coffee, 79, of Creston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with dementia on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.
Dick was born on Sept. 27, 1944 in Akron, OH to Dennis C. Coffee and Delores E. Shrieves. After school Dick went into the United States Army. On Feb. 19, 1972 Dick married Judith Hartman and they shared 33 years together before her passing in 2005. After the army, Dick went to work as a Final Inspector for Permold. Dick was a lifetime member of the Cannan Center Farmers Sportsmans Club and served as the President from 2005-2019. He was also a member of the Creston Moose Lodge and the Wadsworth Eagles. In his free time Dick enjoyed hunting, going to turkey shoots, playing euchre, and most of all spending time with his great grandkids.
Surviving is his daughter Linda Rinkes; step-daughters Valerie (David) Swedine and Endora Garcia; grandchildren Sarah (Andrew) Starinshak, Hannah (Brandon) Creekmore, Shelby (Justen) Davies, and Alexandria (Joshua) Cox; step-grandchildren Angela, Christina, Jennifer, Jessica, David, Connie, Melanie, Michelle, and Anna; eight great grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren; sisters Rose Pasek Pamela Habick; brothers Theodore (Leona) Coffee and Martin Coffee; many nieces and nephews; and bonus children Timothy Ferguson and Brad and Angela Frase.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Judith; a stepson Gerald Hartman; a step-grandchild Nickolas; and brothers and sisters Emma Jane Shepard, Joseph Coffee, Harvey Coffee, Lois King, and Dennis Coffee Jr.
Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 23rd at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691.
