Wayne Koch Obituary

Wayne Allen Kcoh, 85, of West Salem, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster surrounded by his loving family after having suffered a recent stroke. 

Wayne was born Nov. 14, 1933 in Westlake to the late Carl and Helen (Albers) Koch and was a 1951 graduate of Westlake High School.  On July 27, 1956 he married the former Barbara Ellen Fetzer and shortly after entered the U.S. Army where he served from Sept. 25, 1956 to Sept. 24, 1958.  He had made his home near West Salem since 1951 where owned and operated a farm with his family.  Wayne was an active member of Canaan Lutheran Church and was a member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau and the Ohio Holstein Assoc.  He enjoyed playing cards and reading and will be remembered for his hard work and his dedication to his family and to God.

Surviving are his wife, Ellen; his children and their spouses, Deborah and Frank Sapper of Warsaw, IN, Bruce and Cheryl Koch, Randy and Kim Koch and Nancy and Jon Winkler all of West Salem; 9 grandchildren, Bradley (Laura) Sapper, Teryn (Adam) Bedell, Scott (Emily) Koch, Brice (Melissa) Koch, Kara (Kenny) Kornowski, Derek Koch, Nathaniel Koch, Eric Winkler and Nicole Winkler;  8 great-grandchildren and his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bill Moss of Smithville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roger Koch in 2017 and an infant brother Larry.

Services will be Sunday, Nov. 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Canaan Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Thoms officiating.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to Canaan Lutheran Church, 10851 Friendsville Rd., Creston, OH 44217 or to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
