Richard Farber Obituary

 

Richard (Dick) Farber, 74, joined his loves ones in Heaven on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 after a period of declining health.   He was born in June of 1945 to the late Curtis & Charlotte (Comber) Farber.  Dick graduated in 1964 from Norwayne High School and he served in the United States Air Force for 4 years where he met his wife, Pat, while stationed in Grand Forks, ND.  They were married in June of 1968 in Sterling.  Dick worked at Harold Cook, Inc. in Wooster for a number of years until starting his own auto & truck repair shop – Dick’s Garage in 1979.  For 25+ years he worked on cars, trucks & school buses for both Norwayne Local & Rittman Local Schools until retiring in August of 2013.  Dick followed in his Dad’s footsteps & joined the Sterling Volunteer Fire Department where he served for over 40 years in various positions, retiring as Assistant Chief. 

Dick & Pat enjoyed going to car shows with their vintage 1970 AMC Javelin, spending time with their son, grandson, being with family and friends, camping and boating. 

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Pat; son Curtis (Jen Elwyn) of St. Louis, MO  & grandson, Zander Pauley-Farber of Ashland, OH.  Nephew, Daniel (Kelly) Asche of Sterling, nieces, Carol (Dale) Palmer of Sterling & Cathy (Jim) Gillis of Orrville.  And a great support group of neighbors & friends.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Donna Asche & his youngest son Donovan.   

Services will be Monday, December 2nd at 1:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Matt Weaver officiating.  Friends will be received from 12:00 noon until time of services.  Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.
