Laura Helen Young

Laura Helen Young, 91, of Rittman, died peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2019 a LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a brief illness.

Laura was born May 18, 1927 in Sterling to the late Ulah and Alice (Roberts) Shane and was a 1945 graduate of Sterling High School.  On Jan. 22, 1947 she married Nester Young Sr. and he preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2008.  Laura was a member of Rittman Grace Brethren Church and loved reading her Bible.  She had made her home in the Creston are prior to moving to Rittman and enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and reading. 

Surviving are her children, Joan Shrout of Rittman, Rex (Carol) Young of Sterling and Nester Jr. (Pam) Young of Burbank; 5 grandchildren, Dawn (Tuffy) Shriber, Amy (Dan) Fugate, Brad (Michele) Young, Stacey (Steve) Stottsberry and Chad (Gina) Young; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Kathleen) Shane of Sterling; sisters, Dee (Paul) Gingerich of Smithville and  Kay Osborn of Glenwood, AR; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Shane of Florida, Martha Schmidt of Wooster and Carol Shane of Creston and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings, Herb Shane, Fred Shane, Harvey Shane, Harley Shane and Dean (Janet) Shane and Lois (Hugo) Gingerich.

Services will be Wednesday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Bud Olszewski officiating.  Burial will be in Mt.
