Gary Wagers Obituary

Gary Lee  Wagers, 73, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gary was born April 10, 1946 in Millersburg to the late Alvin and Dorothy (Boyce) Wagers and was a 1964 graduate of Triway High School.  On June 5, 1966 he married Diane Hoxworth and together they shared 53 wonderful years together.  Gary retired from Felsted Products in Holmesville and had previously been a machinist at Akron Brass and the maintenance supervisor at Millwood, Inc.  He served on the Fredericksburg Fire Department and Emergency Squad for 25 years  and was always helping co-chairperson of the Fredericksburg Homecoming for several years.  In 1999 they were honored as “Citizens of the Year” at the Homecoming for their service to the Fredericksburg Community.  Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and his many friends in the Amish Community.

Surviving are his wife, Diane; daughters, Sheila and her husband David Wells of Shreve and Lora Amos of Millersburg; daughter-in-law, Brenda Wagers of Orrville; his four grandchildren, Ryan Wells, Abby Wells, Clay Wagers and Morgan Amos and his great-granddaughter, Kylie Young; brothers, Richard (Martha) Wagers of Bucyrus; sisters, Karen (Homer) Sidle  and Dorothy Genevieve Wagers both of Wooster and Marilyn (Ivan) Ott of Apple Creek; brothers-in-law, Richard Franks of Wooster, Art Hoxworth of Denver, CO., Kenny Hoxworth and Gary Hoxworth both of Millersburg and a sister-in-law, Gayle (Lee) Miller of Navarre and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his parents, and sisters, Elizabeth Wagers and Kay Franks.

Services will be Sunday, Oct. 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.  Friends may call Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery at a later date.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com   Memorial contribution may be made to the Fredericksburg Fire Dept., 288 N.
