Frances E. Swartz, 93, a lifelong resident of Burbank, died peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Lodi Community Hospital after a period of declining health.
Frances was born Jan. 20, 1926 in Burbank to the late Charles and Nellie (Fair) Packard and was a 1944 graduate of Burbank High School. She attended Wooster Business College and on June 9, 1946 she married Richey L. Swartz Sr. They made their home on a small farm west of Burbank where they raised their five children and Richey preceded her in death on June 21, 2008. Frances retired in 1986 after 21 years as a cook at Burbank School and had been the Burbank correspondent for the Wooster Daily Record from 1969-1979. She had worked as a local election official for 25 years, had been a 4-H advisor and was a faithful and dedicated worker in the Burbank Community. A lifetime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church she was active in Trinity Missions and was always serving and helping others. Known for her baking and her wonderful cooking, Frances enjoyed family gatherings and her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to gather. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Dan and Kris Swartz of West Salem, Bonnie and Bob Rogal of Newcomerstown, Mary and Fred Schwartz of Burbank and Betty Swartz and special friend Larry Bensinger of Burbank; daughter-in-law, Patricia Gray of West Salem; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren with one due in May; a great-great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her oldest son, Richey Swartz, Jr.; brothers, Charles Harry, Bob and Jim Packard and sisters, Pauline Packard, Beula Aukerman and Trula Marsh.
Services will be Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Burbank with Pastor Lori Burdette-Steele officiating. Burial will be in Burbank Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.
