Emogene Covey, 84, of Rittman, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home in Millersburg after a period of declining health.
Emogene was born Nov. 21, 1934 at Salt Rock, near Branchland, WV to Ode and Bertha (Ross) Hatfield and married Ray Covey who preceded her in death. She had made her home in West Hamlin, WV and Rittman and is remember for being a hard worker and a wonderful cook.
Surviving are her two children, Larry and Linda Covey of Rittman and Ruth Ann and David Belcher of Bogart, GA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Hatfield of Branchland, WV and Jimmy Hatfield of Yulee, FL; sisters, Goldie Bentley and Mildred “Midge” Adkins both of Huntington WV, Maxine Adkins of Cambridge and Patricia Lovejoy of Burbank; a sister-in-law, Charlene Hatfield of Homerville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Kenneth Ray and brothers, Rollie “Tudge”, Jeff “Jack” and Johnny Hatfield.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Bell Ross Cemetery in West Hamlin, WV. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
