Dean Frederick Marty, 79, of Creston, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 after a period of declining health.
Dean was born Dec. 17, 1939 on the family farm near Sterling to the late Raymond and Grace (Gasser) Marty and was a 1957 graduate of Norwayne High School. One Sept. 24, 1960 he married the former Martha Kaufman and she survives. Dean had been a farmer all of his life and was a member of the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Martha are his children, Ralph and Marie Marty of Smithville, Ronald and Patty Marty of Wooster, Daniel Marty of Hemlock, NY, David and Michelle Marty of Smithville, Paul and Jeannine Marty of Wooster and Deana and Scott McCune of Wooster; special friend Greg and his wife Linda Reese of Clinton; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and sisters and brothers, Doris Gasser of Rittman, Robert and Loretta Marty of Sterling, Carolyn Marty of Rittman, Kathryn and Eugene Bachman, Orrville, Eileen and Bob Stoller of Orrville, Roger and Madge Marty of Lyndhurst, Leo and Joyce Marty of Sterling and Galen and Nancy Marty of Orrville; a brother-in-law, Fred Stoller of Orrville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joyce Stoller and two infant brothers, Ralph and Larry and a brother-in-law, Bill Gasser.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church, 8530 Fulton Rd., Sterling with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall, 11484 Steiner Rd., Rittman and from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Thursday at the Church.
