Charles Edward Goody, 93, of Marshallville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 at Brookdale of Wooster after a period of declining health.
Charles was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Cyprus, WV to the late Charles and Ruth (Fowler) Goody and served in the U.S. Army during WW II having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He retired from Rubbermaid, Inc. and was a faithful member of East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. Charles was active in Habitat for Humanity and could often be found tending to his small orchard at his home. He enjoyed making apple cider and his famous cobblers, loved square dancing and spending winters in Florida. Charles truly loved being with family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his children, Vivian (Douglas) Potts of Norton, Larry Edward Goody of Marshallville and Thomas Richard Goody of Sterling; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a sister, Dottie Wertz of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virgie Mae, his second wife, Isabel, a son, Charles Goody Jr., brother, Clyde Goody, sister, Maxine Winchell and special aunt, Pearl “Billie” Samic.
Services will be Monday, Nov. 18th at 11:00 a.m. at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren with Pastor Brad Kelley officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.
