Weldon C. Buss
October 18, 1927 - February 19, 2016
Weldon C. Buss, 88, of Apple Creek, died peacefully at his home on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016.
He was born Oct. 18, 1927 near Apple Creek to the late Clyde and Estella (Harter) Buss and was a 1946 graduate of Apple Creek High School. On April 3, 1948 he married the love of his life, the former Gerry Deetz who survives. Weldon and his twin brother Willie transported milk with their father while they were still teenagers as well as helped on the family farm. He then worked at Orrville Tile Co. and later at Advanced Drainage Systems where he was the top salesman for many years, while being active in farming. Weldon was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a member of the former International Order of Odd Fellows in Apple Creek. Weldon loved traveling in his motor home, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Flat Iron Lake Club at Bear Lake in Quebec, Canada, where he traveled to since the age of 20. He loved raising ponies over the years. His children and grandchildren have many fond memories of him giving them rides in the pony cart.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife Gerry of nearly 68 years; his three children, Karen (Fred) Mathys of Wooster, Steve Buss of Costa Rica and Lori (Mark Zody) Klintworth of Apple Creek; grandchildren, Annie Mathys, Brady (Kendra) Mathys, Shannon (Shawn Hutto) Buss, Jarred Buss, Brandon (Allison) Klintworth, Cody (Morgan) Klintworth, Angie Oliver, Jamie Klintworth and Walker Zody; 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Zoe and Lincoln; his twin brother, Willard (Leota) Buss of Apple Creek; a sister-in-law Ann Buss of Apple Creek and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Buss and a sister Lucile Buss.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek with Pastor Scott Casebeer officiating. Friends may visit Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
