Virginia May Leatherman, 88, of Wooster, died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, Nov. 1, 2011 at West View Manor in Wooster.

Virginia was born March 28, 1923 in Medina County the daughter of the late Paul and Bertha (Freidt) Fulton and she married Clyde W. Leatherman on her birthday in 1942 and they operated a dairy farm for many years.  Clyde preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2010. She was a 1941 graduate of Wadsworth High School had also worked for several years at West View Manor. She was an active member of Canaan Lutheran Church where she served as organist for over 30 years and was involved in the Church Women and Lutheran World Relief blanket project. She had also been a Hospice and Blood Mobile Volunteer. Her greatest joy was being a part of her children and grandchildren’s lives.

She is survived by her 5 children, Ron (Margaret) Leatherman of Wooster, Cheryl (Daryl) Heller of Millersburg, Debra (Mike) Yost of Wooster, Sue Leatherman of Hastings, Minn. and Gayle Leatherman of Thornton, CO; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and a brother Wayne Fulton of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter-in-law Becky Leatherman, a granddaughter Angela Pinnick and a sister Thelma Beery.

A celebration of life services will be Thursday, Nov. 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Canaan Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne Co., 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
