Obituary:
Thomas Doyle Chelf, 64, of Wooster, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Wooster Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born Dec. 15, 1947 in Massillon the son of Jack and Betty (Minser) Chelf and he married Patricia Butler on Aug. 16, 1969 and she survives. He was a 1965 graduate of Waynedale High School and graduated in 1970 from Taylor University with a degree in Education. He taught school in the Orrville, Lexington and West Holmes School Districts and was a financial consultant for Eagle Financial Solutions in Columbus. Tom had been involved in the Men in Motion Ministry in Mansfield and the Son Shine Ministries in Hazel, TX. During his ministry he bicycled across the country several times and led many to Christ. He will be remembered for his strong faith in Jesus Christ his Savior. He attended Northview Alliance Church in Wooster and was active in the Kiwanis Club of Wooster. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and his grandchildren which he adored.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Patty, son Matt and Holly Chelf of Wooster, daughter Lindy Hansen of Wooster; his five grandchildren, Gracie, Emma and Gretchen Chelf and Tommy and Ellie Hansen, his mother and step-father, Betty and Glenn Todd of Akron; sister Kathy and Rod Lemon of Fredericksburg; brother Mike and Diane Chelf of Irma, Wisc. and his in-laws, Carol and Henry Miller of Fredericksburg, Joe and Shari Butler of Creston and Brenda and Mike Clark of Apple Creek and Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Chelf.
Services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor Geno Calarusso officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
