Thomas Franklin Snyder

September 1, 1932 - February 11, 2019 

Thomas F. Snyder, 86, of Creston, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a period of declining health.

Tom was born Sept. 1, 1932 in Mifflinburg, PA to the late Paul and Bertha (Zimmerman) Snyder and married the former Helen Hanzie on April 23, 1955. She survives.  He attended Highland High School and later Wooster Business College and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Tom retired from the Village of Creston Maintenance Dept. and had previously worked at Morton Salt and sold insurance for Western-Southern Life.  He was a member of Creston Moose Lodge 1224 and enjoyed collecting toy tractors, attending flee markets, car shows and tractor pulls.  Tom was a sports enthusiast and his favorite team was the Cleveland Indians.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; children, Raymond Snyder and Rick (Teresa) Snyder both of Creston, Kathy (Larry) Giauque of Apple Creek and Ron (Zoe) Snyder of Holmesville; grandchildren, Jamie Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Brandon Snyder, Kelly (Frank) Vasel, Tonia Giauque, Nikki Giauque and Steven Evans; great-grandchildren, Dawson and Destiney Maslak, Darrian, Mollie, Ashton and Lily Snyder, Andrew and Madison Vasel and Enzo Evans; brothers and sisters, Dave (Diane) Snyder and Jack (Eleanor) Snyder both of Wadsworth, Janet Renner of Sharon Center, Bill (Carolyn) Snyder of Seville, Becky Cartwright of Wadsworth, Ruth Kennedy of Akron and Mike (Patty) Snyder of Wadsworth; brother-in-law, Beecher Vaughn of Frost Proof, FL; a sister-in-law, Sharon Snyder of Seville and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Snyder, a sister, Ellen Vaughn and half-sisters, Betty Hecker and Lois Jordan.

Services will be Friday, Feb. 15that 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.  Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

We would like to express our sympathy to your family-we are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was such a nice man. A great friend of my Dad's and of ours. I always enjoyed bringing him fish because he really loved it. We're sorry we can't make it to his services as we are out of town. Our thoughts are with your family.
