Thomas L. Savage
November 13, 1936 - January 31, 2016
Thomas L. Savage, 79, of Wooster, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice following a brief illness.
Tom was born Nov. 13, 1936 in Wheeling, W.Va. to Thomas and Catherine Louise Hartlieb Savage who preceded him in death. He graduated from West Liberty High School and later from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry. Tom later married and had two sons, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren including son, Warren (Cyd) Savage, and their children Jessica Savage, Kristin McCarty and Dylan Savage of California and son, John Savage, his son Joshua Savage and his children, Liam and Aiden of Pennsylvania. Farming and raising sheep were his passions and he worked his way through college by working with sheep. He loved raising sheep and showing them at fairs as well as helping others prepare their sheep for competition. He won many ribbons and trophies for his wonderful talent that the Lord blessed him with. He was engaged in farming all of his life, having worked on the family farm in West Virginia and later operating his own farm on Pleasant Home Road. In addition to farming, he worked for his dear friend, Jackie Rice whom he loved at Coldwell Banker’s Realty as a real estate agent for many years. Tom considered Jackie’s daughters, Sherry Wharton, Misty (Jeremy) Green and Haley Smith as his special daughters and he was always there to encourage them. Jackie, her daughters, and friend Mike Leeson were all by his side as were Tom’s sons because there were always in his heart. Tom is also survived by a sister, Linda (Marvin) Webb of Texas.
