 Obituary:

Suzanne L. Shook, 52, of Smithville, went to her eternal home on October 5, 2018 surrounded by family at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a sudden stroke and illness.

Sue was born Nov. 22, 1965 in Austin, TX to Bennie and Cynthia (Clinch) Nulisch.  She received her Associates Degree in Applied Sciences from Jefferson Community College in 1984 and later received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Akron in Organizational Leadership in 2013.  On Dec. 26, 1985 she married the love of her life, Frank Shook in Dallas, TX and he survives.  Sue was very passionate about everything that she did and loved to be involved in influencing lives around her.  She lived to serve others.  She accomplished many things in her life and was a lifelong learner having proudly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in her late 40’s.  She was a stay at home Mother and educator for many years and after all of her girls were out of the home, she began substitute teaching , did administrative work, taste tested with Smacker’s as well as worked with the Board of Elections.  She enjoyed years of volunteer work at camps as a teenager, with the UPCI Bible Quizzing teams as a scorekeeper and was involved with 4-H for many years in various roles. She volunteered as frequently as she could and she touched many times, told many jokes and stories and will be sorely missed.  She was preceded in death by her parents Bennie and Cynthia and she leaves behind her husband, Frank; her three daughters, Sarah Shook, Clairice (Jason) Cowgill and Deana Shook; a granddaughter, Vivian that she dearly loved; sisters, Joanna (Tom) Hegenauer and Beth (Kevin) Gable as well as manty nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and many “adoptive” Children who were considered a part of her “clan” of kids.  She also had several dogs that she treated like children, Jack Jack, Sissy, Pumpkin and Roxie.

Friends may call Monday, Oct. 15thfrom 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Life Tabernacle, 9878 Krabill Rd., Rittman  where Pastor Edward Nichols will conduct services on Tuesday, Oct. 16that 11:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Life Tabernacle Building Fund, 9878 Krabill Rd., Rittman, OH 44270 as she loved the work of God and the furthering of His Kingdom.  A special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses a Wooster Community Hospital, Akron General Hospital and the staff at LifeCare Hospice of the loving care provided to Sue in her last days.

So sad to hear of this loss. Sue was a wonderful friend and neighbor to me and my girls who grew up in Rittman with her girls. Such a wonderful Christian. Always a smile on her face. She was a part of our life we will never forget her. She leaves behind a wonderful testimony for us all. With love and remembrance of Sue. Dianna Bowles and girls.
