Susie Gruber, 81, of Millersburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born March 25, 1936 in Plain City to Simon and Katie (Troyer) Frey and was married to Willis Camp who preceded her in death in 1990 and later to Robert Gruber who died in 1995. She was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church and had done volunteer work at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Massillon as well as at other Soup Kitchens. She enjoyed doing counted cross stitching, canning and serving others. Susie always loved children and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Mary Ann (Gideon) Weaver of Fredericksburg and Jeffery Kandel and his special friend Kim of Indiana; step-children, Jerry Camp of Massillon, Shirley (Ken) Hook of Magnolia, Janice (Trevor) Pantin of Burke, VA and James Camp and his special friend Nila of Massillon; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and brothers, Sam (Mary Beth) Frey of Galion and Alvin (Teresa) Frey of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a sister Anna Frey; a grandson and a great-grandchild.
Services will be Saturday, Nov. 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastors James Butler and Duane Wilbur officiating. Burial will be in East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. I enjoyed knowing Susie at the Salvation Army. She was a wonderful kind, friendly and skilled coworker. I miss her very much. My deepest sympathy to all her family.
