Rosina "Rosie" Rhoads
June 6, 1943 - January 4, 2016
Rosina Rhoads, 72, of Creston, died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at Meadowview Healthcare Center in Seville after a lengthy battle with Dementia.
Rosie was born June 6, 1943 in Rittman to the late Bascom and Anna (Skeens) Pelfrey and married Gerald Rhoads on March 31, 1961. He survives. She had made her home in Creston for the past 45 years where she had been a member of the Creston Rescue Squad, the Fire Department Auxiliary, was a dispatcher for the department and headed up the kitchen for the annual Fireman Sale. She was a Creston Citizen of the Year in 1995. Rosie enjoyed camping, yard sales, doing craft and taking trips to West Virginia to gamble.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald; children, Tim (Brenda) Rhoads of Burbank, Janet NeSmith of Creston and Susan (Mike) Bertschy of Creston; 4 grandchildren, Tim (Kathy) Rhoads, Ashley (Kevin) Stowe; Ginny NeSmith and Amber NeSmith; great-grandchildren, Amarrah, Brooklynn, Allie, Kyrah, Kaydence, Kamden and Kolson; a sister, Delores (Ed) Arnold of Clearwater, FL and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Marshall, III, brothers, Leonard and David Pelfrey; a sister Phyllis Vance and three infant brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Larry Rickey officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
