Margery Bowman, 93, of Creston, died Friday, March 4, 2016 at Burbank Parke Care Center following a brief illness.

Born in Cleveland on Dec. 12, 1922 to Lucius B. and Nettie “Nell” (Gill) Nettleton she was named Ruth Margery and graduated from Smithville High School in 1940.  She married Harold B. Bowman on May 22, 1943 and together they raised three children and operated their family farm. She later worked at Freedlander’s Dept. Store in the toy department.  She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had previously been active in Wayne Presbyterian Church where she was the choir director and helped with Bible School and Youth Fellowship.  Margery enjoyed working in her flower gardens and loved music.  She was a great supporter of the Music Programs at Norwayne Schools and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s programs.

Surviving are her son, Richard (Sandra) Bowman of Creston; daughter Ann (Jay) Nelson of Pulaski, TN; grandchildren, Michael (Holly) Bowman and Monica (Tim) Trapp; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Amyra Bowman and her brother,  James (June) Nettleton of Wooster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold on Nov. 25, 1999 and a son, Robert Dean Bowman on Feb. 17, 1965.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7605 Pleasant Home Rd., Sterling with Pastor Stephen Olsen officiating.  Burial will be in Wayne Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 until time of services at the church.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Harold Bowman Music Scholarship Fund, c/o Norwayne High School, 350 S. Main St., Creston, OH 44217 or to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
