Obituary:
Ray Uhler Jr., 84, of Creston, died peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Glendora Health Care Center following a period of declining health.
Ray was born Oct. 1, 1926 in Rowsburg, Ashland Co., the son of the late Ray Sr. and Ruth (Lindsay) Uhler. He married Donna Hickman on May 4, 1946 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2004. He had owned and operated Rays Garage in Creston from 1968 - 1991 and had previously worked at the PCA in Rittman, Rich Brothers Pontiac, Ramsier Motors and Kings Marathon Station. He had been a lifetime mechanic working on cars since age 9 and was always fixing things. He had made his home in the Creston area most of his life and had served on the Creston Fire Dept. for several years and was a member Canaan United Methodist Church. He was an avid bowler bowling on the Creston Thursday Night League. He loved to fishing on Lake Erie and watch his family racing cars. He always enjoyed telling stories.
He is survived by his children Don Uhler of Creston, Dan (Rita) Uhler of Spring City, TN, Wayne (Pam) Uhler of Fredericksburg, Sandy Siers of Orrville and Mark (Helen) Uhler of Creston; 8 grandchildren, John Uhler, David Uhler, Mike Uhler, Angie (John) Giltner, Sam (Mija) Gasser, Dustin (Melody) Uhler, Kristin (Jason) Flory and Aaron Uhler; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister Beatrice Mazey of Norton; a brother John (Joan) Uhler of Phoenix and nieces and nephews.
His wife and 5 brothers, Robert, Forrest, Buford, Maynard and Roger Uhler died previously
Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Deb Quillen officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
