Nylah Mae Landry, 88, of Wooster, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at her home following a sudden illness.
Nylah was born Oct. 5, 1921 in Noblesville, IN the daughter of the late Herman and Ada (Forrer) Schmollinger. On Jan. 6, 1940 she married Edward L. Landry in Creston and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2006. Nylah and Ed moved to their farm north of Wooster in 1950 where Nylah sold eggs. She was a active member of Grace Brethren Church in Wooster where she served on the flower committee for many years, was active in the Womens Missionary Council and was a prayer warrior. She help organize the Weed-a-way Garden Club and was currently a member of Garden Party Garden Club and the Wayne Co. Herb Society. She loved flowers and gardening and entered many of her flowers in the Wayne County Fair winning many ribbons over the years. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, going to auctions, collecting antiques and golfing.
She will be greatly missed by her children Bonnie (Dennis) Leach of Medina and Gary (Judy) Landry of Wooster, grandchildren Mandy (Mike) Kerr of Medina, Michael (Amber) Leach of Broadview Heights, Tom Landry of Wooster, Aimee (Ryan) Jenkins of Celina, Mollie Landry and Janie Landry both of Wooster; her 5 great-grandchildren, Abby, Emily, Tyler, Melody and Riley and nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, a grandson Fred Leach in 1991 and 2 brothers Russell and Owen Schmollinger.
Services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church in Wooster with Rev. Randy Moomaw officiating. Burial will be in Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston and one hour prior to services at the Church on Monday.
