Obituary:

CRESTON – William “Newt” Ferguson, 80, of Creston, went home to be with God on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Burbank Parke Care Center following a period of declining health.

Newt was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Morehead, KY, the son of the late Earnest C. and Vinda Alice (Johnson) Ferguson. He married Beulah Pittman on Dec. 8, 1950 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2010.

He had worked at McIntire Basket Factory for many years and later became part owner and had also been engaged in the logging business. He made his home in Creston for the past 60 years and was a member of Canaan Free Will Baptist Church.He enjoyed sprint car racing, fishing on Lake Erie, hunting and playing euchre.

Surviving are his four children, Greg (Patty) Ferguson of Creston, Pamela (Nester) Young of Creston, Karen (Terry) O'Hare of Orrville and Denise (Michael) Molter of Wooster; nine grandchildren, Carrie Ferguson, Gregory Ferguson, Natasha Pritchett, Stacey Price, Chad Young, Brenden O'Hare, Katie O'Hare, Nicole Guthrie and Leah Molter; eight great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Earnest (Louise) Ferguson of Creston and Danny (Pat) Ferguson of Nashville and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a great-granddaughter, sisters Eileen Madigan, Lena Steele and Midge McIntire and a brother Vernon.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Canaan Free Will Baptist Church with pastor James McComas officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com.
