Nelson Schlabach, 63, of Shreve, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1947 in Crawford County, PA the son of Lester and Sylvia (Yoder) Schlabach. He was a self-employed carpenter and painter and always enjoyed working. He had made his home on Township Road 527 for the past 35 years.
Surviving are children Wesley (Laura) Schlabach of Berlin, Leander (Susan) Schlabach of Millersburg, Mary (Greg) Rice of St. Petersburg, FL and Carolyn (Sidney) Edgar of Lakeland, FL; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers Paul (Amanda) Schlabach of Fredericksburg, Jonas (Fannie) Schlabach of Apple Creek and Andy (Laura) Schlabach of New Concord and 7 sisters, Mary (Simon) Lee of Centerville, PA, Rebecca (Enos) Miller, Emma (Levi) Hostetler, Ella (Atlee) Hershberger, Fannie (William) Hostetler and Nancy (Irvin) Hilty all of Apple Creek and Lydia (Melvin) Yoder of Greenville, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Johnny Schlabach and 3 infant sisters.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Mennonite Church, County Rd. 77, Millersburg with John Wengerd officiating. Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Tributes may be shared at
