Mary Grace Gonzalez
July 24, 1998 - January 22, 2018
SMITHVILLE — Once upon a time there was a girl named Mary Grace. She was born in Akron to Mike and Grace Gonzalez. She grew up loving siblings, Mickey (26), Matthew (24), Joey (22), Sammy (21), Noah (17), Peter (16), Ben (14), and Anna (12).
With a flair for the artistic, Mary was a storyteller through and through. You could constantly find her drawing, painting, acting on the stage, and writing some of the most beautiful stories you could ever read.
Mary had a love for animals, especially her dog, Charlie, whom she would spend hours training. She also had a love for coffee, baking and cake decorating.
She had a passion for life and always lived to the fullest extent she could. She has been described as "resolutely loving," "unflinchingly kind," and "vehemently joyful."
In March of 2017, Mary was diagnosed with a rare form of adrenal cancer. Her battle was long and difficult, but Mary fought bravely with her ever loving and faithful mother by her side every step of the way.
On Jan. 22, 2018, at the age of 19, Mary Grace went home to be with the Savior whom she loved so dearly. And on that day, not only did heaven gain a beautiful angel, but also a fierce warrior to be added to its celestial ranks. For Mary was as strong as she was gentle and continues to be.
