Margaret Dalton Murray of Rochester Ohio passed away November 24, 2011 at the New Life
Hospice Center in Lorain after a long illness. She was born July 1, 1929 in Dunham Township,
Washington County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Virginia (nee Mahle) Dalton.
She grew up and attended school there, then completed Nursing School at Parkersburg, West
Virginia. In 1947, she attended Capitol University in Bexley, Ohio, then transferred to Ohio State
University where she received her BS in Medical Technology in 1952. It was at OSU that she met and
dated her future husband, Bruce Murray. Her first job was as a research technician under Dr. Zollinger
for the surgery department of OSU Hospital .
In 1979, she found her calling and earned a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities at the University of
Wisconsin at River Falls. She taught 12 years in the Red Wing, Minnesota School District. She was a
truly gifted teacher, appreciated by students, parents, and her colleagues. She also worked as a
homemaker and as a mother to her five children. She retired in 1991 and enjoyed traveling, cooking,
working in her garden, reading, walking, and spending time with her husband and family.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bruce B. Murray, a son David D. Murray of Minneapolis, MN., a daughter Lucile Murray Pope of Wausau, WI., a daughter Rachel Murray (Gautam) Sarath of Lincoln, NE., a son Russell (Janet) Murray of Ballwin, MO., and a daughter Sarah Murray of Sherman Oaks, CA. She has seven beloved grandchildren: Laura Pope Rice, Ben Pope, Camille Pope, Marlana Pope, Russell Pope, Nathaniel Murray & Krishna Sarath,
She was predeceased by her two infant children, Bruce Murray and Maggie Murray.
She is also survived by 2 brothers, Larry Dalton of Seattle , WA., Leslie Dalton of Silver Springs , Florida ,
and one sister Edith Dalton McClary of Centerburg , Ohio.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington.
Funeral Service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rochester, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 3700 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053
