Lois Irene Stefanko
November 5, 1927 - July 26, 2017
Lois Irene Stefanko, 89, of Creston, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Burbank Parke Care Center from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Lois was born Nov. 5, 1927 in Wadsworth to the late Harry and Grace (Grafton) Texter and was a 1945 graduate of Seville High School. On Oct. 5, 1946 she married Walter Stefanko who preceded her in death on July 3, 1969. Lois had worked over the years at Matteson's Pharmacy, cleaned at the Creston Post Office, and was a Library Assistant at the Creston Library. She had served on the Creston Village Council and the Tree Committee and was a former member of the Creston Community Service Club. She was honored as a citizen of the year in 1989 for her service to the Creston Community. Lois was an avid bowler, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, caring for her trees and loved her many dogs she had over the years. She was often seen walking her dog around Creston, and she will be missed but always remembered. Lois also loved her music which she enjoyed until the very end.
Surviving are her four children, Barbara Alday and Harold McCormick of Alachua, FL; Walter “Butch” Jr. and Roberta Stefanko of Creston, David “Mike” and Janice Stefanko of Elizabethtown, KY, and Janet and Rich McCormick of Wooster; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. A private family service will be held. Interment will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. I am so sorry Janet...I remember your Momma from coming to you house for slumber parties and from working at the pharmacy. She was such a nice and fun lady. I'm not able to come to calling hours as we have a service to go to for another friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs! Debbie
