Betty Kathleen Burk

Kathleen Burk, 90 of Rittman went home to be with her Lord on Patriot’s Day, September 11, 2018. She died in Hospice Care at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman after a brief period of declining health.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1927 in New Boston in Scioto County, Ohio to Frank Edward and Irene (Elhoff) Cooper. She worked in her father’s store, Cooper’s Groceries, Dry Goods and Hardware for many years. Then she worked in insurance and accounting, retiring from American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio. A piano student for twelve years, Kathleen played for all services at her Baptist Church for many years. Kathleen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Art – Deceased) Oswald, of Creston, and Barbara Brown of Laveen, AZ; her wonderful grandchildren Douglas (Jennifer) Oswald of Beavercreek and Andrew (Alison) Oswald of Medina and her great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Elisabeth, Griffin, and Adele Oswald. She is also survived by younger brothers, Alfred (Beth) Cooper and Steve Cooper all of Portsmouth and Randy Cooper of McDermott and by a favorite niece Laurie (Scott) Sigel of State College, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three older brothers, Douglas, Donovan, and Wendell.
Services will be held on Friday, September 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster with Rev. Ann Paynter officiating. Calling hours will be at 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.. A bereavement dinner will be held following the funeral in the church. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
