John F. Geiger, 70 of Creston died Wednesday morning Nov 30, 2011 at Hospice of Visiting Nurse Center in Copley following a 9 year fight with colon cancer.
John was born in Copley on December 23, 1940 to the late John and (Barbara) Geiger. He married Dian Falb on Nov. 18, 1961 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 8,2009. He had retired from Yellow Freight in 1998 and had driven for McIlvaine Trucking, Dean Brown Trucking and Transamerica. He had served in the U.S Navy. He had resided at his residence since 1972. He had attended the Wooster Grace Brethren Church. He had been active in farming and was a jack of all trades. He was a member of the Medina Eagles. He enjoyed woodworking, horses, gardening and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Jeff (Jodi) Geiger of Delaware, Jacquie Gable of Apple Creek, Michael (Janelle) Geiger of Wooster and Lara (Dave) Grant of Creston; grandchildren Charles, Ryan, Sarah, Victoria, Marshall, Dakota, Riley, Loudon, and Colton; brothers, Jerry (Ronnie) Geiger of CA,and Ed (Nancy) Bucksar of Copley, sister, Christine (John) Donelan of CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dian, brothers, Walt Geiger, Bob Bucksar,and Steve Bucksar and a sister Barbara Hooper
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Daron Butler officiating. Burial will be at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
