John C. Kauf, 74, of Seville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 after an 18 month battle with brain cancer.
He was born Jan. 18, 1944 in Mansfield to the late William Raymond and Dorcus (Livingston) Kauf and was a 1963 graduate of Norwayne High School. He served as a military police officer for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 – 1968. John was a country boy at heart and was happiest in life when he was a part of the farming community. Whether it was his younger years spent on Franchester Farms, delivering feed for the Seville Elevator or more recently driving field sprayers for Town & Country, he felt like he was doing what he most enjoyed.
John is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Chris) Ellis; his grandson, Brendan; his companion of fourteen years, Debbie Tefs; brothers, Everett Kauf, Don (Barb) Kauf and Bill (Diana) Kauf; his sister, LuAnn (Rusty) Locke and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Russell.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 28th at 1:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Chad Durfee officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
