Gerald E. “Jerry” Patterson Jr., 58, of Wooster, gained his wings on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice following an extended illness.
Jerry was born May 3, 1959 in Barberton to Gerald Sr. and Donna (Beichler) Patterson and graduated from Smithville High School in 1978. He was married by Rev. Valentine on Jan. 27, 1979 to the love of his life, the former Linda Hanshaw and she survives. Jerry spent many years farming and was also a mechanic for Waste Management. He deeply loved his family and was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Jerry devoted the last five years of his life to help raise his Grandkids who were his pride and joy. He loved being at his home away from home, Charles Mill Campground, where he made many lifelong friends. Jerry was loved by all that he met and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his son, Jerry (Christina) Patterson; grandchildren, Kody and Raina; his mother, Donna Patterson; siblings, Donita (Bob) Turner, Patty (Harvey) Beltz, Jan (Rick) Zacharias, Terri (Phillip) Chupp, Diane (Roger) Ellis, Ken (Blossom) Patterson and Mark (Patience) Patterson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Patterson Sr.; uncles, Carl and Robert Beichler and special friend, Jim Rickett.
A celebration of Life and dinner will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26th from 6-8 p.m. at the Messerly Recreation Center at Charles Mill Campground, 1277A SR 43, Mansfield, OH. Graveside services will be Friday, Oct. 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Smithville Cemetery with Pastor Larry Groves officiating. The family extends there since thanks to the staff at LifeCare Hospice for all the great care given to Jerry.
