Jene S. Johnson, 73, of Creston, died Satruday evening, April 24, 2010 at Wooster Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Jene was born Sept. 15, 1936 in Greensboro, PA to Chester and Thelma (Duncan) Johson and he married Erma Pittman on Oct. 28, 1973. He graduated from Wadsworth High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1956. He retired from Barron & Benson in Cuyahoga Falls and was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshallville. He enjoyed working on machines and had operated his own chain and saw sharpening business. He had made his home in Creston for the past 19 years previously residing in Marshallville.
He is survived by his wife Erma, children, Paul Wellman of Creston, Janet (Wally) Ott of Rittman and Rick (Ramona) Wellman of Creston; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a brother Mike Johnson of Texas and a sister Cora Brown of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Earl and sister Elsie, Lois, Shirley and Elva.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Homer Watson officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
