James A. Fronek, 81, of Creston went home to be with the Lord at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster following a one year illness.
He was born in Streetsboro on March 16, 1936 to the late Albert A. and Hattie Belle (Piper) Fronek and served in the National Guard and the U. S. Navy from 1953-1965. Jim retired from Southern California Edison and married Ellen Leffel on August 28, 1999 who survives. He had lived in Creston since 2002 and previously resided in Sharon Center, Arizona, and California. Jim was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had made many trips to Missionary Acres in Missouri and was a volunteer to Mission to Amish People. He volunteered at the Just Give Me Jesus Revival with Anne Graham Lotz in 2001-2002 at the Gund Arena in Cleveland. He had worked at the Rittman Food Bank, at the voting polls where he had been a presiding judge, served on the Republican Committee and had been a member of the Creston Lions Club. Jim enjoyed working on friend’s farms and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Ellen, daughter, Susan Morain of Arizona, step-sons, Robert (Annette) Koval of Stow and Donald (Denise) Koval of Seville; grandchildren, Samantha, Alishia, Brandon, Ashley, Calab, Autumn, Danielle and Derek; great-grandchildren, Koby, Mikylia, and Erra and sisters, Caroline Haney and Barbara Sweet. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet; a daughter, Shannon; a grandson, Daniel and brother, Fred and Albert “Abby” Fronek.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7605 Pleasant Home Rd., Sterling with Pastor Stephen Olsen officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the church.
