Greta Mazell Dean, 84, of Rittman, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Wadsworth after a period of declining health.
Greta was born Oct. 2, 1932 in Fort Gay, W.Va. to the late William and Lydia (Bellomy) Boyce and married Bascom L. Dean on Dec. 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2011. She had worked over the years at the Rubber Shop in Killbuck, Castle Nursing Home, American Safety and at PastiKote. She had made her home in Rittman for many years and was a member of Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church. Greta enjoyed gardening, canning and was a great cook. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who always cared for her family and people and her home was always open.
Surviving are her children, Dianna Furman of Rittman, Nona Faye Dean of Wadsworth, Walter “Butch” (Susan) Dean of Rittman, Brenda (Bill) Metheney of Creston, Jay “Bud” (Connie) Dean of Sterling, Ernest Dean of Akron and Carl Dean of Wadsworth. Also surviving are her 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor John Castle officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
