Gertrude "Trudy" Hartong, 72, of Massillon passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton following an illness of cancer.

She was born Dec. 7, 1937 in Canaan near Creston the daughter of Charles "Jeff' and Lois (Hane) Hookway.  She married Howard R. Hartong on April 13, 1996 and he survives along with her daughter Carol Porter Smith of Massillon, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a sister Phyllis McCall of Massillon.  Her parents a her grandmother Ada Mack died previously. She will be sadly missed and loved by all that loved and knew her well.

Memorial graveside services will be Sunday, May 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Canaan Cemetery with Rev. Don Wolff.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
