Evelyn M. Pfeifer, 86, of Creston, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Medina General Hospital following a brief illness.

Evelyn was born May 19, 1924 in Dayton the daughter of the late Arthur and Bessie (Clifford) Fluker.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Steele, Maurice Carson and Bruno Pfeifer.  She had worked at F.R. Newmans and the Pythian Home in Medina.  She had made her home in Medina moving to Creston 25 years ago and attended Creston United Methodist Church and was a member of the Red Hat Society.  Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching the Cleveland Indians.  She was an accomplished pianist who played in churches, restaurants and for many parties and gatherings.  She was loved by many.

She was the loving mother of James Steele of California, Gene (Cheryl) Steele of Wadsworth, Phyllis (Daniel) Murray of Creston, Richard (Sharon) Steele of Medina, Robert (Mary) Carson of Lexington, NC and Elizabeth Jewell of Medina; Evelyn was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A brother Arthur Fluker Jr. preceded her in death.

Services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.  Burial will follow in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com.  Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
