Obituary:

Ethel M. Irvin, 101, of Wooster, died Monday morning, Aug. 15, 2011 at West View Manor in Wooster following a period of declining health.
Ethel was born Feb. 10, 1910 near Creston the daughter of the late John H. and Susan (McFadden) Irvin and was the seventh child of nine children. She was a graduate of Creston high School and Manchester College in Indiana. She was an elementary teach for 40 years having taught at Creston, East Canton, Sterling and for the last 27 years of her career at Rittman where she retired from in 1971. During her teaching years, she spent many summers traveling in the 50 states and different countries with various peace, educational and religious groups. She was a member of National Education Assoc., was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a life member of Ohio Education Assoc. Following retirement from teaching she worked as a Co-Manager of the West View Manor Auxiliary Gift Shop for 20 years. She was a member of Paradise Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a sister Lucille Kinney of Wooster and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Floyd, Virgil, Glade and J. Lowell Irvin and sisters Fern Hoff, Grace Steiner and Ruth Leaman.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Paradise Church of the Brethren with Pastor Allen Kahler officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Church Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Contributions may be made to Paradise Church of the Brethren, PO Box 126, Smithville, OH 44677. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
